1. We create expectations in our mind when we anticipate events.  Often these hopes are based on ideal circumstances that in reality rarely occur.  Sami believed that by sharing delicious cattail cakes with his friends, that they would have a fun and exciting time together.  How did his friends let him down?

2. Harvey proved to be a kind and loyal friend to Sami.  How was Sami inconsiderate towards Harvey?  Talk about a time when your child may have let a family member or friend down.

3. Sami and his friends each showed a particular weakness in their actions at the party.  Discuss how their actions showed that each was thinking only of themselves.

4. When we excuse or pardon someone for a wrong they have committed against us we exercise the power of forgiveness.  Forgiveness is the ultimate expression of love and gratitude in relationships. Grandpa Seamonster taught Sami that he needed to forgive his friends so that they would also forgive him of his wrongdoings against them. Discuss a time when someone in your family needed forgiveness and/or when your child offered forgiveness to another.

5. Sami’s favorite treat is cattail cakes.  Share your favorite treat together.
